Both my sons can swim from an early age. They are not afraid of water, and I do not want them to be.
But I have known a few dear and lovely people who have suddenly lost their lives to water.
Water is powerful. Water level can rise within seconds. A single wave from the sea can take you away, never to return. Flowing water is especially dangerous.
We must always be fully aware when near water bodies. Always follow pool rules. Maintain a safe distance from flowing water. Make sure everyone in water is always within sight and earshot of each other. Wear safety jackets when in a vessel.
Being cautious saves lives.
PS: Some of these people have put themselves at grave risk to film these videos. Don't be that guy. Find shelter and move the heck back when water moves that fast.

This is how massively corrupt Indian society is. Forty people paid this person between ₹3,00,000 and ₹5,00,000, thinking he is a judge who will illegally use his position to get them an EWS (economically weaker section) house allotted.
Not one of these people reported this "judge". They all happily colluded in corruption with him, and are now crying foul that he "cheated" them. What about the poor that they were trying to cheat out of subsidised housing?

I'm unpacking this quote, and in these brief lines the ranter (submitter) says so much. And drop China out of this, because this is happening in every developing country, from India to Mexico.
Men are crossing the borders from Mexico at the risk of being shot. Crossing the seas from Africa and Turkey at the risk of drowning. Leaving behind families and children. Men are indulging in corruption in India, at the risk of public shame and jail. Because families need more.
We all want more. That's a problem.

From both sides. And that is because the world is now ideology driven. We all have our positions to defend. We are all committed warriors. Nuance is dead.
I do believe Fakeera has the answer. The world needs more love and acceptance.
People need the courage to stand up to their families, to society, and do what is right for them, rather than what others demand/expect of them. Families need the love to accept their children for who they are, rather than who they want them to be, what they want them to do.
Spoke to a parent earlier today about how she is not bringing up her son to just crack competitive exams. Many of us are awake to the reality that people need to be more than just money making machines.
I often meet entrepreneurs who are passionately changing the world, but are still weighed down by the expectations of their families. These people look wistfully to their peers who stuck to a job rather than chasing their dreams and are now rich and "well settled".
I meet a lot of government officials. Some work very hard and earn fame and admiration. Others enrich themselves through unethical means. Most are just doing as much as their job requires and simply "surviving" in the job.
Why is so much of the human race simply "surviving"? We could be so much more, if we didn't constantly need more.
Growing up we were taught the story of Valmiki. He used to be a highway robber, till one of his victims asked him to confer with his family if this is how they wanted him to bring in the daily bread. The family of course did not want him to rob people to feed them. Thus enlightened, he became a saint.
What if we all, en masse, "came out" to our families about who we really want to be. What we really want to do. And what we do not want to do to afford the family a bigger car.
What if we all, en masse, all over the world, refused to show up for our jobs if our employers pay shit to direct or outsourced employees.

Now that they've fought this battle for all of us, how about we help them win the bigger battle. In fact, how beautiful it would be if there weren't any us and them any more.

ABV has been very sick for almost a decade now. He is over 93 years old and clearly suffering. Why is it customary to only pray for recovery in situations like this? Why can't we wish for the peaceful and gentle passing of a person who has lived a full life.

Speaking from a purely capitalist perspective, wouldn't people with such well rounded personalities make for better hires in companies? Giving students experiences beyond mere rote learning, has to have benefits for the economy too.
