ABV has been very sick for almost a decade now. He is over 93 years old and clearly suffering. Why is it customary to only pray for recovery in situations like this? Why can't we wish for the peaceful and gentle passing of a person who has lived a full life.
I know little about religion, but at least Buddhism does celebrate the passing of a person, as merely the death of the body (the "vessel").
