Sherebanu had to be processed along an assembly line of three painters, before she could have the Indian colours on her face. And yet, the swag of this blonde dude is unmatched.
The street vendors, selling their wares under the massive street over bridge. The crowd of idle onlookers like me brings good business to them.

Then there is a lot of food. People keep carting in food and distributing it out the open trunks of their cars. Photographing people who are eating was discouraged - that might be a cultural nuance that I don't appreciate.
I saw a lot of poor kids come in, eat, and leave. Street kids, unwashed, the kind you see in Delhi 6. किसी का तो भाला हो रहा था। I did not photograph the poor kids eating... Hmm, maybe I do appreciate that cultural nuance.

And you see a lot of art. More art, better art than the Lodhi art district. Art that makes you think.

There are a lot of women at the Shaheen Bagh protest. I can't seem to overemphasise that.
They are surrounded by men. The impression you get is that the whole event is organised by the men. They are busy bringing in food, managing crowds, laying carpets. But you hang around long enough and see through the "just look busy and important" drama.
There is nothing to organise. Here are a bunch of women sitting in the middle of the road, wiping their children's noses, looking likes bosses, and generally completely self sufficient. The men are simply entertaining guests like me with tea, biscuits and biryani - because the women aren't around to do it.

The setting is very urban. These women are squat in the middle of one of the busiest roads in Delhi, that connects South Delhi, Gurgaon and Faridabad to Noida. You see wide roads, foot over bridges, dividers, electric poles and keekar trees.

At the protest site, the first thing you notice are women. A lot of women. Crowding all available spaces. Hijaab clad women that I, in my ignorance, don't usually associate with public spaces.

I'm condoning neither physical intrusion nor network cracking. I'm just saying that either most CS students at JNU have a strong set of ethics (which I see as an upside of studying at a university that doesn't just focus on tech education). Or, they don't have a future in online security, devops, infra, or even out of the box thinking.
I managed multiple campus datacenters for five years. Most of them had no physical security; the keys were freely passed around. These were days before surveillance cameras. You don't assault servers. That's hitting below the belt.

When I initially got in touch American culture, I was amazed at how much charity the average American gave and did. Well, if you have a socio economic system that completely dehumanises anyone who is less fortunate, that keeps most people at the brink of penury, and you refuse to ask your government to fix things, then individuals will need to keep coming up with band aid solutions through Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity, Good Harvest and what not.
