Sat in a metro headed to Gurgaon. At Qutab Minar it changed direction. I realised much later. These metro designers, I tell you. Sheer evil. No one around me got off because they all knew this would happen. They all got in the Gurgaon direction train knowing it would turn around. They wanted seats.
I've attended Vidisha's Bollywood dance workshops twice. Each experience was unique. Her attention to detail, and her ability to train even folks like me with two left feet, make her the only dance teacher I'd ever turn to. Most of all, her workshops are so much fun and energy :-D

Here is what is wrong with this world. Someone had written about the beautiful, lucid, accessible poetry of Dylan in words that I can scarcely understand. And I'm not lesser for it. The author is. It is high time we shunned complicated vocabulary and long winding sentences. Let us all share simple ideas in simple words. Or pretty poems like Dylan.

I haven't heard much from my friends in the Railways about this. If such a massive investment is indeed happening, it is a very good thing. India cannot develop on roads and airways alone. We desperately need the Railways to shoulder their share of passenger and freight traffic. The congestion and resulting chaos is definitely true.
One thing is for sure. Whatever investment is happening is a lot better managed than before. Suresh Prabhu is indeed a busy, ambitious and capable man.

Interesting. Too busy these days to follow the drama unfolding on TV and social media. I do believe that the police, paramilitary and other forces dealing with terrorism and insurgencies on a never ending basis deserve as much respect as the army. Also, the best way to honour our army is to respect them and take care of them. With the OROP fiasco, this country has scored a big zero on that. Respect for the army is mere lip service. When it comes to actually spending money and time on them, we are on the back foot. Sad.

Till recently, there were natural checks and balances in society that prevented the growth in your income and wealth, if you did not serve the interests of society. If you made products people didn't like, you wouldn't sell. If you overcharged, the competition would catch up. If you mistreated your workers, you would lose good talent.
All of this has been lost in the last decade or so. In America as well as in India, big business has bought off the ruling class. In India it is more brazen than America. Politicians actually flaunt their corporate connections on their resume here. Where that leads us to is an unstable society where the interests of the few shadow the interests of the many.
The furore over epipen's price gouging isn't an isolated incident. People did not realise how and when pharmaceutical companies were handed over absolute control over their patient's lives. But as this malaise spreads from specialise drugs to more widely used medicine, people are rising up.
We will see a lot of opposition to change. The middle class has started demanding public transport. Distributed power generation is giving energy companies the chills. Artists are rebelling against cultural appropriation by media giants.
We live in interesting times. Except if you're poor. Then you're just being screwed over as part of a large global economic experiment.

Oh wait. That rider cancelled. But these two continue to argue with the driver. That they didn't book two seats but insist on mooching two seats is his fault, along with everything else that is wrong with the Uber algorithm. It's like this poor guy moonlights as Uber's architect.
