Kavin made this video to "explain a hw question to my friend". I asked him for the code and he said "it's messy" because "it's his first time".

There's been an ongoing tussle between me and him. I want him to do more with his time than his usual engagements - studies, piano and crochet (and other crafts). I've been trying to get him to work on a software project or community service project that solves a real world problem.

He'd rather use his time to do unstructured stuff - to experiment and explore.

I guess he won major points with this "boredom leads to creativity" video.

  • gauri.jayaramIn this day and age? Poor Prajjna…
  • makeshiftworldUgh! But it's a thing. I know friends who had their 'announcements' published in local papers. Also endured elaborate ceremonies. And recently, a neighbor's kid had to undergo that. Poor thing..
  • alistair.dsouzaI thought I read it wrong. Then looked properly. Were you invited
  • Sameera SatijaLeave aside this particular issue for a moment and look around!! Do you think we are getting the basic infrastucture in return of the amount of taxes you pay? If your ans in NO then this protest is justified as it is to demand answerability
  • Vivek VermaWhy SJ why? You could have blurred the name of the kid
  • Saurabh JShalini Makhija Venugopal Gurumoorthy Mathrubootham why you angry? Did I do something wrong?

  • Rama Lakshmi DhavalaThis is one highly embarrassing function for girls across TN and AP/Telangana. Many families have done away with it but a sizeable amount still indulge in broadcasting by celebrating as a function.
  • Shiuli SubayaRites of passage rituals are so important for younger people especially and Tamil Nadu still honours many of these in traditional ways.
  • Rekha Patil ReddyBelieve it or not, this is happening in London too .
  • Shiuli SubayaWhat’s with all the shame

  • Balagopal RavibalanIt is common to celebrate menarche in many cultures - as a symbol of fertility. It usually has a priest involved and then a grand feast. The choice of words here is unfortunate. The hypocrisy however is in the fact that from the next time onewards the same girl will be branded "impure" when the same thing happens. If you wanna know the scale of this "celebration" check out this video from a Tamil movie https://youtu.be/Aothm1rjxU0?si=p5ijrQ47vB-Mzw0e
  • Gautam GhaiJust the word seems awkward, not the occasion or celebration. Rather than embarrassing, I think it removes the stigma or shame associated.
  • Swapna SitaramanI had nightmares about this event in my life. My parents told me about it and I showed no interst in such a function. In such cases, i feel the child should be asked. I would have hated my parents if they went ahead with it without my approval
  • Millie KhannaSorry, what's wrong or angering? Except for the choice of English words which must come from non native speakers of English. If you can do a mundan for a boy, why not this? If done right, it would remove period shaming. Maybe criticise the shaming around periods and especially in TN of calling them impure and instead celebrate it as detoxification or renewal of a cycle, a fresh start. Nitpicking on a banner shan't help you look woke.
  • Sherebanu FroshI should do something. Bar mitzvah, misaq. Maybe taking something from all these traditions. Thanks for the idea! (My poor kids)

Traveling out of Goa, food is always a pain. Not just the quality, but the portion sizes in Goa are also quite good. And the pricing is reasonable, unless you visit tourist traps.

The boys came out of the water last evening, shaken up, but still very excited about toeay. "The waves will be softer in the morning", they said. Why do I not see it?

Surfing near Chennai is definitely an extreme sport. Rocks, Heavy surf, and dozens of people in the same spot. The chill surfing vibes are kinda missing.
