Literally, this. The other day my kids asked me if I use Rhombuses in my life.

Me, who does engineering drawing, three dimensional design, and graphics for a living. And photography, woodworking, art for a hobby.

"No, I've never used a rhombus in my life."

Sigh. You can either tell kids the truth about their syllabus, or motivate them to study all of it with zeal. It can't be both.

Tushit JainInteresting story.. I learnt about rhombuses from a real life incident. When I was a kid, my father was supervising a guy who was putting up a tent at a cousin's wedding. He claimed he'd put the tent up in a square shape because the sides were all equal. My father knew it looked off, so he asked the guy to measure the diagonals. That's why/how I figured that you can have a shape other than square even though all the sides are equal. So it's not always that you learn geometry to use the shape. Bharat Krishna BarryTo understand the concept of the "Diamond In The Rough" from Aladdin, I thought I might need the knowledge of the rhombus.. turns out I was wrong. Two decades later the live action movie even steered clear of "Diamond". Hide
