Me: I was reading what this woman from Italy wrote. Eventually the hospitals will get overwhelmed, the pharmacies will run out of essential drugs, and the health care workers will start getting sick or fatigued.

M1: Then we must stock up on medicines now itself, before they run out.

My mom: If we hoard medicines we don't need, we deny medicines to people who are actually sick. That's not good.

Me: And if the sick don't get treated, the disease keeps raging outside and eventually reaches us. And then we do get to use the medicines we hoarded.

M1: (kicks furniture in annoyance)

The communist will tell you that humans are a cooperative species. The capitalist will tell you that we are inherently selfish and competitive, and that our greed helps us make the best decisions.

I don't know how we are when born. But cooperation can surely be taught and inculcated.
