Yesterday, when driving into an apartment complex, the security guard used a thermal gun to check the temperature of my forehead. He told me that my body temperature is 36.8°C and let me enter.
He never checked the other occupants in the car - my children.
When residents institute such checks, why don't they think them through? If the security contractor turns their measures into security theatre, why don't they do something about it?
[ This was apart from the usual privacy issues - I refused to divulge my phone number and they wouldn't let me in without an OTP coming to my phone. I asked them what the privacy policy of their verification app vendor is and they said "trust us". Yeah right, that's what Decathlon also said, till they got sued. ]
