Is there any situation where tipping is a good thing?

In the US tipping is used to pay nearly zero wage to waiters. Tips are a factor of your attractiveness and chattiness, not how well you served a guest.

In India it reminds me bakshish. There is a huge class factor associated with it. Does anyone even tip from the goodness of their heart in this country? It always seems to be "ले, रख ले"

And now all these delivery apps want you tipping riders. First, you make people work for you full time, but treat them as contractors. Pay them per delivery or per mile instead of by the hour. No benefits, no job security. Then, you want customers to "support" the rider, while your own valuations go through the roof and dozens of your execs make over a crore an year. What rot?
