A lot of the IT jobs came from the maintenance of physical infrastructure. With desktops, on premise servers, installation media and paper licenses going the way of the dodo, millions of jobs will be lost worldwide. No longer are people updating binary business applications across zillions of discrete machines. BYoD on mobile is the standard now. Once we completely move to BYoD for non transactional systems, a total decimation of non development services jobs will take place.
