Exhibit one, is our first ever PC (mobile phone for size reference). So far, we have always only made mini PCs, thin clients and all in ones. And some kiosks and point of sale machines. But never a PC. Well, PCs do not yet require BIS certification, so they are quick and easy to launch. We put one together, and then began load testing it to make sure the electricals and thermals are stable under full load. When testing a computer, we artificially load its processor with mathematical problems (which sometimes come straight out of my Masters thesis).
After artificial loads, we needed to do real world testing. Our usual tests involve playing videos in a browser, checking our Gmail, etc. None of that puts any serious load on an 8 core, 8 GB RAM computer. So I pulled my kids in to play games.
For the first time ever, they got a chance to play PC games on a Windows computer. They can’t imagine playing games can be serious work too - wait till they hear about game testing. So we’ve got probes going into the computer measuring voltage and wattage, while they are busy gaming on it. So far the PC has held up rather well.
