I have a Sri Lankan friend and she posted a story with a pic of the Sri Lankan public taking over the president's palace.

I almost responded "stay safe" and then I bit my tongue. Why should the people be afraid when taking power back from demagogues?

When that moron was running+ruining the country, I didn't tell her to stay safe. Now when the people have kicked him out, I'm afraid? Why do we fear crowds of protesters, and keep horrible people in power so they can keep up a semblance of peace by ruling with an iron hand?

Gouri ChughYou were about to say, "Stay Safe", because a crowd, no matter how good its intentions are, is a crowd. You don't know what people end up doing when they are unruly. There could be stampede, robbery, fire, accidents. People there have been abandoned by their leaders to fend for themselves, without a rule of law. They have a lot of reasons to be worried about, and you have a lot of reasons to tell her to "Stay Safe." Hide
