But a lot of the world's mimics British architecture. Architecture that isn't designed for the heat.
And then those buildings survive on air-conditioning, all through the year. Without the AC pumping, one would suffocate in them.
We really have to start thinking about the energy costs of our buildings. The architecture here in Goa is so, so different from Gurgaon. Everything is built to handle incessant rain, humidity, and the heat. And then I get to Panjim or Porvorim and see the same stupid glass buildings. Heat traps. Death traps. They even need pumps to not get flooded.
PS: I might have felt a tingle of serves-you-right, seeing the British suffer. I don't think we formerly colonised can ever get over our misery about being colonised.
