Can somebody with knowledge of how airline ticketing works, guide me about this?

Direct flights from Delhi to Goa on Thursday 28 Sep are for ~₹10,000. With a stopover, its ~₹9,000.

On the same day, flights from Delhi to Bangalore via Goa are for ₹5,130.

This isn't just a MakeMyTrip thing. Google Flights shows the same pricing.

Indigo will not fly your ass direct to Goa for anything less than 10K. But if you're going to Bangalore, it'll fly you via Goa for half that price. How does this pricing make sense, from an operations research perspective?

Can a passenger book the DEL-BLR flight and just walk out at GOI?

Sameera SatijaLeave aside this particular issue for a moment and look around!! Do you think we are getting the basic infrastucture in return of the amount of taxes you pay? If your ans in NO then this protest is justified as it is to demand answerability
Avinash IyerUsually, in NA, if your final destination is a not so popular place, you run into this situation. I.e NY to Chicago maybe $300, but NY to say, Milwaukee via Chicago may just be $90. Theoretically, in the latter case, you can book up to Milwaukee and choose to stay back at Chicago, but you will be blacklisted. You may banned from the airline if you are found to be a repeat offender. Hide
George AikaraDemand supply. It's a long weekend with Oct 1st sunday and Oct 2nd holiday. So many people heading to Goa as India mein wohi ek tension free holiday destination hai . Delhi Bangalore, lot's of flights. You price tickets high, people choose other airlines. Best hai luggage courier kara do, and flight Goa land hone se 20 min pehle, pretend a medical emergency Hide

Sid Mallickbasically indigo is in a price war for the DEL-BLR flights and will cut their prices to get ur ass in their seat. also, be aware if your flight has delays or gets cancelled, they will only rebook you on DEL-(XYZ-) BLR not DEL-GOI-BLR. they are not responsible for any intermediate stops Hide

Anil John TitusTechnically, there's something called a contract of carriage which you will need to breach if you don't head to your final destination. While your idea of BLR-DEL and then walking out at GOI will work, you would be in breach of the contract of carriage. Feel free to do it until someone slaps you on the wrist for it Hide

Millie KhannaYou can, it's not "illegal" as such, but it is against the carrier conditions, so the airline can cancel your frequent flyer points etc if they catch on. And you cannot carry cabin baggage. Hide
