Old employees are typically stereotyped as foggy, lazy and argumentative. But my experience with the Railways tells me that it is these people who are a treasure trove of knowledge and process information. They can get things done, solve problems. I've seen so many retired employees being asked to provide their expertise when software is being developed by/for the Railways.
