For those of you were seeing lower numbers at AQICN and Airveda compared to the SAFAR app, here is an update. GoI through CPCB has notified how to correctly report AQI when PM2.5 is off the charts.
Essentially, the AQI chart has been expanded to include concentrations of PM2.5 that were previously off the charts. Different apps were capping off the AQI figure differently - that's been fixed.
Instead of fudging the figures, GoI is taking the lead in accurately reporting how bad things really are. This can only mean one thing - the government doesn't give a shit about pollution. It simply isn't a political issue yet. Let's keep raising awareness to the point where the government starts obfuscating or outright withholding data. Then we will know that the air matters.
