If you are the kind who asks people "where are you from", my response is, "I was born in Delhi and lived there for many years, but I don't identify as a Delhite. I have lived all over India." A long winded answer to hide my embarrassment about being a दिल्लीवाला.
Growing up I never associated Delhi with culture or warmth. That was for Chennai. And Mumbai had the spirit, the discipline, the pace. We had the "जानता नहीं मेरा बाप कौन है।"
Between rediscovering Delhi's heritage, the AAP and the protests, I have fallen in love with Delhi for the first time.
