Nothing causes me as much distress as LinkedIn. I woke up in the morning with a connection request email and logged in. The amount of ... can someone help me describe this because I am at a complete loss of words with this one.

To say that everyone there is showing off is to mince words. It's not show-off as in Instagram selfies, or travel and food pics - consumer culture is forgivable. I also don't have an issue with the simulated optimism and excitement - we've all learned to ignore the motivational messages from that one guy in our lives (OK, maybe five guys).

It's like you've taken the competitive toxicity of IIT (or worse, JEE prep classes) and given it cloud scale. "Oh look this is how awesome I am; aren't you?". As if we haven't lost enough people to the disease of corporate growth and success - LinkedIn wants to take that disease and give it pandemic proportions.
