Me: Wow. You look beautiful. Living in the mountains has done you wonders.

She: Hardly. I'm tanned from being in the sun.

Me: Your skin is glowing.

She: I'm outdoor so much. Its not good for my skin.

Me: I've lived in Chennai five years. You can't tell me beauty comes from your skin tone.

Renaming Fair and Lovely won't help. We need to send everybody to South India or Africa for retraining. So they can (re)learn what beauty really is. Weight and complexion have dominated the conversation on beauty for too long.
