I wasn't planning on publicly talking about my sickness. But now that @[100002153045695:2048:Mayank Austen Soofi] has written so poignantly about it, all I want to add is, please do not underestimate this disease. If you are not careful, it will find you, infect you, and then put you through the worst torture of your life.

Wear a mask
Wash your hands
Maintain physical distance
And be a little bit afraid

A little bit of fear is not a bad thing. Covid put a relatively healthy 40 year old like me with no co-morbidities, no history of lung disease or smoking, into an ICU, hooked to a BiPAP machine that forced air into my lungs 24x7. Fear that fate, please, if fear helps you make sensible decisions.

I have survived only because of the love, attention and care of my family, friends and the medical team. Folks worked round the clock to make sure I was getting the right treatment and nutrition, that I was motivated and positive, that I wasn't worried about my children. A stranger donated blood plasma 🙏🏽, receiving which was likely the turning point of my healing journey. Please do not put your loved ones through this much anxiety and trauma. Always wear a mask and avoid any human interaction you can.
