The preferred way to sanitise your hands is to wash them with soap and water. A sanitiser should only be used if soap and water are not readily available. People who keep a sanitiser bottle next to their home main doors - maybe not such a good idea.
(This also applied to non pandemic situations. Parents who carry around a sanitiser and liberally give it to children after play and before meals - don't do that. Make your critters walk to the washroom and properly wash their hands.)
