The importance of educational trips and travel are completely missed by educational institutions and parents in India. I suppose this stems from the fact that for most Indians, vacation means visiting relatives or taking pilgrimages.

There is a lot to be learnt from the real world. Not all family travel can be planned during school vacations. Schools under the KFI and Aurobindo Ashram, as well as some colleges, organise excellent field tours. But most schools actually take kids to Goa or Singapore for tours. No wonder They don't understand when parents take kids to educational trips.

Farhan HaqueI believe that visiting relatives in various cultures, is also an important part of child education. It makes them more social and develops a sense of community participation in a child, for doing good works for society in future. Education is more than learning the science of an Apple falling from a tree or following a Dictate in the name of Discipline. Hide
