Tax discovery is as important as price discovery. Governments tend to base tax rates on politics, or worse, on how much they can squeeze out of the public without a revolt. They often do not rely on economics. With a decrease in corporate income tax to 25%, I expect higher overall corporate tax collection too. But what is the right tax rate? What is the sweet spot at which a government can maximise tax collection? Is that tax rate also fair? Economics is a fun subject 😀
